2 months ago my wife left her job and the city..I'm devastated

I didnt tell you guys, but, 2 months ago my wife left her job and the city..and now she's in Orlando with all these rich guys, quite frankly I'm devastated!! Lol

Here's why....

For years we were told, get a good education, work hard, get a good job.
Well my wife did just that, got her Bachelors degree in accounting. When we met she had her degree and worked at a financial advisory company for 12 hours per day. She eventually worked for a major auto company as an accountant, then for the Detroit City government as a Senior accountant (all while pursuing her masters degree in accounting).

I would say she worked her way up through her career path... Not only did she get the good education, work hard, then get a good job, she got a GOVERNMENT job. Those usually have great pay and benefits, including pensions which are unheard of these days....

Here's why I'm devastated.........

What they told us as children to do was untrue. Government was supposed to be the safe, secure way to raise a family. Well those days are gone. (As I'm typing this the para- government entity US Postal Service is expecting record layoffs).

Even I, who touted entrepreneurship VERY hard, thought government jobs were probably a safe way to build a nice retirement. Boy was I wrong..lol...

You see two months ago the City of Detroit laid her off...everyone was showing us pity, however we were not pitiful, nor scared..

Here's why............

First of all we saw it as a blessing from God himself..

2 years ago, we started doing something part time, about 1-2 hours per day, on the side, that allowed us to participate in the multi billion dollar telecom and energy industries. So we''re feeling pretty good right now actually..lol. Weird I know..but I dont expect her to go back to her job, unless she wants to.

What we discovered, after doing the numbers, is that it was possible to make more part time in our little business, than she would make full time at her good-government job (and even have more time for family).
